Giving 100% Is Holding You Back
I recently read an article where the author was saying, it’s silly that we say to give life a 110% or it’s silly for someone to say they gave 150% when all we have to give is 100%.
What’s sad is that this guy has boxed himself in. And what is even more tragic is that he is educating other people to box themselves in. I’m here to tell you that the author of the article referenced above is un-intentionally giving out miss-information. Thus, how many people will read his article and put a cap on themselves?
The author of the article suffers from generational thinking, which carries with it something called lack programming, passed down from generation to generation. We all are affected by it to varying degrees, and I mean …… everyone! Some scientists say we are all born genius and then we are dumbed down by generational thinking.
My Mom is a great mom and she also suffers from lack programming caused from generational thinking. She raised in a religious family and reading the bible has always been how she started her day. She would get up early before everyone else and she would read, study and pray. She did this religiously. (no pun intended) She was the spiritual backbone of our family and over the years as I grew up she told me numerous times that per scripture it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it would be for a rich man to get into heaven. Money is bad, rich people are evil and it is spiritual to be poor.
It was not until about 6 years ago that I discovered that to be a load of camel poop. It was misunderstood interpretation of scripture. There is nothing wrong with having a lot of money, the problem comes in when you have more love for money than you do for God. With the love for money comes greed and selfishness and other undesirable character traits. The story was about misplaced love. God wants everyone to live a life of abundance, a life of prosperity.
WOW!!!! I finally learned that rich people CAN go to heaven. This was a major paradigm shift for me. It confirmed the inner doubts that I had regarding God and money, and verified what I always wanted to believe.
I tell you that so I can tell you this. Your 100% is your perception, that does not mean that it must be my perception. Your perceived 100% may be your personal best, that does not mean that it has to be my personal best. And who said that 100% is all there is? Are we supposed to accept that as a boundary because someone who suffered from lack programming, labeled it, accepted it and passed it on, unknowingly crippling others by limiting their beliefs?
If my personal best is greater tomorrow than it is today, does that become my new 100%? Why can’t that be my 200% and why can’t we keep going as we get better, to 300%, 400%, 500%, a 1000% and beyond. Forget 100%, it is nothing more than a mislabeled, self-created boundary. We need to create a boarder-less mentality through personal development that will allow us to acknowledge our whole brain synchronicity and catapult our thinking to cranium cracking levels we never could have imagined.
Impossible Is Not One Word! It Is Actually Three Words
Anything is possible and everything is impossible ………… WAIT A MINUTE!!! How can everything be possible and impossible at the same time? Are you ready to break thru to new levels? Everything is possible and impossible at the same time because they are one in the same! Two seemingly different words that are both communicating the same meaning.
You are going to experience a shift in your thinking right now that will change the way you think today, tomorrow and every day for as long-as you live. Do you know the difference between can’t and can? The only difference is the letter “T” which stands for your thinking. If you look closely at the word thinking you will see that it is two words thin and king.
Your thinking is either on the thin side or you think like a king, so how is it going? How is your “T” doing?
Scientists have proven beyond the shadow of a doubt, that darkness is a fallacy. Darkness does not exist, but only varying degrees of light. And the scientific discovery most important to this segment is that weakness in the realm of human potential is also an utter fallacy. It is nonexistent There are only varying degrees of strength. Forget the word weakness, always think in terms of strength. When someone asks you, what is your biggest weakness, they are asking you for your smallest strength.
Staying inside the vein of personal growth and human potential, let me shine the spot light on what is perhaps the biggest misconception in our lives. There is no such thing as impossible. There is only possible. From now on I want you to think of possible and impossible as the same thing. Everything is possible and impossible at the same time, in the same moment because they are the same thing. If you look closely at the word impossible you will see that it is an affirmational embedded command.
An example of an embedded command is; can you tell me what you need before you will authorize an agreement between us. It looks like a question but it is an embedded command. If you remove the words can you, what you have left is the command – Tell me what you need before you will authorize an agreement between us. We dress it up to give it the appearance of a question, as not to offend the conscious mind or alert it to the reality that we are delivering a command to the subconscious mind.
Now, let’s look again at the word impossible. I want you to write it down and look at it. Within the word impossible, you see the word possible. If the impossible is not possible than why do 90% of the letters in the word impossible, spell the word possible?
The answer is that it is an embedded command!
From now on you look at the word impossible like this. Impossible is not one word! It is three words. I-m-possible or I am possible. The embedded command within the word impossible is I am Possible! And that is the way you will read the word impossible for the rest of your life.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure
James Allen, author of the legendary book, As A Man Thinketh. Was one of the wisest, most brilliant men who ever lived and he said: To put away aimlessness and weakness, and to begin to think with purpose, is to enter the ranks of those strong ones who only recognize failure as one of the pathways to attainment; who make all conditions serve them and who think strongly, attempt fearlessly, and accomplish masterfully.
I encourage you to challenge your thinking. Think about the “T” that separates the word can from the word can’t. That same letter “T” also separates the people who can from the people who can’t. I guess you can say the letter “T” not only separates the words, it also separates our actions. What we think is who we are because what we think is what we do. The biggest room in the world is the room for personal growth. We can always have more because we can always be more. All we have to do is start thinking more.
Marianne Williamson, the spiritual teacher and self-help author wrote the 1992 best-selling book, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles. Marianne’s book spoke volumes about the letter “T” when she quoted these words from Nelson Mandela:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. You’re playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
That is powerful and it certainly would pump up anyone’s letter “T” if they were to read it every day and internalize it into a true belief.
Earlier I talked about forgetting 100% and forgetting about boundaries. Exercise your imagination as often as you can. Like Albert Einstein said, your imagination is your preview to life’s coming attractions. Napoleon Hill talks about PMA which stands for a Positive Mental Attitude. My Mom and Dad always said that attitudes were contagious. Have you ever seen the picture of an open faced book of matches and it shows the fire spreading from the first match to the second match and so forth? Underneath the picture is that familiar saying; Attitudes are contagious! It reminds me of the Roger Bannister story.
Is It Just a Crock of Camel Poop?
No one in history had ever run a mile in four minutes. When Roger Bannister got off the plane in Helsinki Finland to represent the USA in the 1952 Olympic games, he was in fantastic physical condition. He expected to win and win he did. He set a record in the 1500 meters yet he walked away disappointed because the accomplishment he took back to America was not the one he wanted the most. 1500 meters is very close to the equivalent of one mile. Roger had a dream of being the first person in the world to run a recorded mile in four minutes. He left Helsinki determined to keep training harder and pushing himself further and further to the realization of his dream. He wrapped his PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) around his desire and in his mind, his heart and his soul, he claimed a future victory in advance. Like a king.
On May 6th 1954 Rogers dream came true when he ran his fastest race ever and crossed the finish line with recorded time of three minutes and fifty-nine seconds. Roger Bannister became the first person in the world to break the four-minute mile. This feat had never been accomplished by anyone and the opinions of conventional wisdom at the time, suggested that the human heart and other areas of the body could not withstand such a feat. Many even said that pushing the human body to such limits could lead someone to their grave. But Roger new that impossible meant, I-M-Possible or I am Possible.
Roger Bannister would not accept the personal humiliation of settling for a smaller dream. He knew in his mind it could be done and his thoughts meshed with supporting emotions to produce a feeling that was so powerful it would never be surprised. He turned those feelings lose, he set them free with the grace and speed of a wild gazelle. Even though others said it could not be done, he knew and believed differently. His intention and expectation, together with his faith and belief created an outcome that defied all the odds and made him the champion of his dreams. Breaking the four-minute mile seemed amazing to the world of sports.
However, what began happening only six weeks later was even more phenomenal. A runner in Australia beat Roger Bannisters record. And in less than a year it happened again and again until twenty people had broken the four-minute mile. Today it has become common place for athletes in high school to run the mile in four minutes or less. Currently the record for the fastest mile is held by Hicham El Guerrouj with a time of three minutes and forty-three seconds.
What happened to us? Did the human species get an instantaneous software upgrade that gave us faster speeds? The obvious answer to that question is of course, no. The only difference was the changes in belief, the intention, the expectation and the attitude these athletes. When Roger Bannister achieved his dream and set a new record, he enabled others to dream bigger and redefine their own beliefs. They came to believed they could achieve at a higher level, and they did.
What is your proverbial four-minute mile? What beliefs are holding you back? Is your limiting belief real, or imagined? What you think about is what comes about. If you want bigger results you must think bigger, dream bigger and believe bigger. Imagination is limitless and so is success. Conceivability and believability can upgrade Possibility to a probability. Action-ability exercises your capability and turns your probability into obtainability. All of this leads to achievability and Finally, achievability can lead to credibility and credibility can be leveraged into profitability.
What are you capable of accomplishing? You can be anything, do anything and have anything you want if you are willing to change the way you think and develop some new habits. Are you willing invest the time and effort into yourself to grow more. Your outer world will never out-grow your inner world. If you sincerely desire to become more on the outside than you must become more on the inside. You can always have more because you can always be more. In closing I would like to share a story that perfectly illustrates what I’m saying.
The Story Is Called the Fiddle and The Bow
We have to go back many years ago to this small town in Germany, there was this little old man and all he had in his possession was a fiddle and a bow. He hadn’t eaten in days and was starving. He heard about this auction that was going on in town and he thought maybe if he could get to the auction in time, he could sell his fiddle and bow and use the money to buy food.
He walked for many miles, mile after mile. Finally, he got to the auction just as they were getting ready to close the auction. He worked his way through the crowd until he reached the platform where the auctioneer was standing. He tugged on the auctioneer’s pant leg and said Mr. auctioneer, before you adjourn, all I have in this world is this fiddle and this bow. I was hoping someone would want to buy it so I could feed myself. I have not eaten in 3 days.
The auctioneer took the fiddle and the bow, stepped to the microphone and said, ladies and gentlemen. Before you leave, I’ve just been handed this fiddle and this bow. Let the bidding begin. The bids started coming. Ten cents over here, fifty cents over there, seventy-five cents from across the room and the bidding stopped at seventy-five cents.
Now the auctioneer was about to put the gavel down for the third time, when the little old man approached the platform once again. He walked up onto the platform and approached the auctioneer. He said just one moment please, can I have my fiddle and bow back?
The auctioneer hands the fiddle and the bow back to the old man. The old man took out his hanky and he polished that beautiful fiddle and cleaned off the bow and he held it up and played the most beautiful music that town had ever heard. And when he was done, he handed it back to the auctioneer.
The auctioneer took the bow very gingerly. With a tremendous amount of respect and pride in his voice he stepped to the microphone and said, Ladies and gentlemen. What is your bid for this beautiful fiddle and this magnificent bow? The bidding began. One thousand dollars, two thousand dollars, and bids went all the way up to seven thousand five hundred dollars.
Now, my question to you is simply this. What was the difference between that seventy-five cent fiddle and bow, and the seven thousand five-hundred-dollar beautiful fiddle and magnificent bow?
The difference was the touch of the master’s hands. And what is the difference between where you are today and where you ultimately dream to be? It’s nothing more than the touch of YOU! The touch of your hands. You are the master of your being, you make everything what it is or what it is not, you create it all with the touch, of the master’s hands.
